COVID-19, Visa, and Travel Updates

Updated January 5, 2022

This page was created to provide the most up-to-date information regarding au pair travel, travel requirements, and visa processing.

Air travelers aged two and older, regardless of nationality or vaccination status, are required to show documentation of a negative COVID-19 viral test result taken within one day of their flight’s departure to the United States. Travelers must show a negative COVID-19 test result to the airline before they board their flight. Learn more about testing requirements.

If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may instead travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e., your positive COVID-19 viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country, and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).

It is also required that all non-immigrant, non-citizen air travelers to the United States be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination status before boarding an airplane.

This requirement applies to all au pairs seeking to enter the U.S. regardless of whether they are entering for the first time or returning to continue their program after traveling internationally. Au pairs are responsible for scheduling and paying for their COVID-19 test.
